Education Bursary

The NBPA offers $1500 annually to be split evenly between applicants who have met the eligibility criteria. A maximum of three recipients will be selected for this award. If there are more then three eligible applicants all names will be placed in a draw where three names will be selected. The recipients of this award will be notified by email, recognized on NBPA social media accounts and announced at the AGM.

Criteria: The nominee must be a member in good standing. The nominee must have completed a course in the last 2 calendar years.

How to apply: The applicant must fill out an application form and provide proof of course completion (i.e., certificate and receipt). Application forms can be obtained and must be returned to Lisa Pike.

Monique Breau Congress Award

This award offers full registration to Annual CPA Congress, transportation, accommodation and meals as per NBPA policy III-30-01, to a maximum of $1,500.00. The recipients of this award will be notified by email, recognized on NBPA social media accounts and announced at the AGM.

Criteria: nominee must be a current NBPA member in good standing; recipient must have been involved in professional activities of the NBPA for at least 2 years; the award may only be presented to a member once.

How to apply: The nominee must fill out an application form, provide rationale for your nomination and provide a CV. Application forms can be obtained and must be returned to Lisa Pike.

Professional Leadership Recognition Award

This award recognizes a member of the NBPA for their excellence in leadership in the profession. The Award consists of a professional leadership recognition award certificate, a name engraved plaque (to be housed by the recipient for one year or until award is given out) and a $100.00 book prize. The recipients of this award will be notified by email, recognized on NBPA social media accounts and announced at the AGM.

Criteria: The recipient of this award must be nominated by their peers. They must be a current NBPA member in good standing.

How to apply: The nominee must fill out an application form, provide a letter of nomination and a description and timeline of nominee’s past work experience in the profession and list of professional activities: or the nominee’s curriculum vitae. Application forms can be obtained and must be returned to Lisa Pike.

Young Leadership Recognition Award

This award recognizes initiative of new members to the profession who promote, develop and/or stimulate physiotherapy issues within the profession or to the public. The Award consists of a professional leadership recognition award certificate, a name engraved plaque (to be housed by the recipient for one year or until award is given out) and a $100.00 book prize. The recipients of this award will be notified by email, recognized on NBPA social media accounts and announced at the AGM.

Criteria: The recipient of this award must be nominated by their peers. They must be a current NBPA member in good standing. They must be within the first 5 years of their career.

How to apply: The nominee must fill out an application form, provide a letter of nomination and a description and timeline of nominee’s past work experience in the profession and list of professional activities. Application forms can be obtained and must be returned to Lisa Pike.

National Physiotherapy Month Awards

The Award consists of $100.00 to the winning submission along with the honor of having the recipient’s name engraved on a plaque. The plaque is to be kept by the recipient for one year and is to be returned to the Awards chairperson prior to the following National Physiotherapy Month competition. The recipients of this award will be notified by email, recognized on NBPA social media accounts and announced at the AGM.

Criteria: Awarded to a physiotherapist of group of physiotherapists who have held a public activity or event promoting Physiotherapy in the identified NPM period.

How to apply: The nominee must fill out an application form and provide all supporting documentation listed under criteria. Application forms can be obtained and must be returned to Lisa Pike.

Student Professionalism

This award recognizes a graduating student in each of the following physiotherapy programs at the universities across Canada who exemplify professional behavior and attitudes within the academic and clinical setting. We currently offer awards for McMaster, University of Ottawa and Dalhousie. The recipient receives a $150 book prize and a professional recognition certificate. The recipients will be nominated and selected by their university. The recipient will be notified by email and will be recognized on NBPA social media accounts.

AGM Participation Award

Is awarded to a NBPA member in good standing who is present for the AGM. The recipient will have the NBPA portion of the annual CPA membership fees paid for the following year. The recipient will be chosen during the AGM and will be recognized on NBPA social media accounts.
